YaHVaH IsSovereign!
Women hush up? Shalom friends. This is a work in progress but I think you can discern to fill in the blanks. I have no intent to trouble anyone, so I hope this will be a blessing. Is 1 Corinthians14 the First and Last Word about women in religious ceremonies?

SHOULD WOMEN BE QUIET IN RELIGIOUS SERVICES?

1 Corinthians 11:5 with 14:34 below, “But every woman that prays or prophesies with her head uncovered, dishonors her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. “ COMMENT: Impossible to both keep silent and to prophecy. This is not the first place of mention of women ministering. 2 Samuel might be the place to start, below.

16: But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the Assemblies of YaHVaH.
Titus 3:9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings (battle; fighting) over “the law” (not clear which law). COMMENT: Avoid fighting in general.

On Right is TsephanYah's 1st wife Penny in 1970 as a student.>>>>

SILENCIUM? (Latin)  SILENCE? ( in English).
So along comes Shaul/Paul years after the Resurrection and seemingly makes an edict to Corinthians, and to be read in all the assemblies. Few have heeded this imperative and some feel guilty as they look the other way. But did he really intend for our wives to invoke a prayer silently, or hand it in on a slip of paper? I can hear the charge now facetiously “Put up, or shut up”. Is that the end of it all and women forever hold their peace? Pastors and elders, you could look at ALL Scriptures having to do with this subject.

1Co 14:34 Let your women keep silence (G4601 Segao-hold peace) in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. COMMENT: Was Paul the champion of adding to the Word? Years after Moses and Messiah, and suddenly this Scripture seems to say that a woman cannot voice a prayer or prayer request or prophecy, in apparent contradiction to the context. And how about in Eternity?

PROVERBS 1:20: Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets. She (it) crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates..she saith, ‘How long will you love simplicity? ..fools hate knowledge’.
“Wisdom” It is said by a few that Wisdom represent the Ruach ha Kadosh, the Spirit. Some also say "Wisdom" is feminine, as if there were a Queen in heaven. In this scenario, Wisdom would not be allowed to speak, but to keep quiet. I do not agree with any of these premise, by the way.

2 Samuel 19:34 And Barzillai said unto the king, How long have I to live, that I should go up with the king unto Jerusalem?
2 Sam 19:35 I am this day fourscore years old: and can I discern between good and evil? can thy servant taste what I eat or what I drink? can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women?

2 Ch 35:25 And Jeremiah lamented for Josiah: and all the singing men and the singing women spake of Josiah in their lamentations to this day, and made them an ordinance in Israel: and, behold, they are written in the lamentations.
Ezra 2:65 “The whole congregation... and there were among them two hundred singing men and singing women.
NehemiYah 7:67 Beside their man servants and their maidservants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty and seven: and they had two hundred forty and five singing men and singing women.

Dr. Samuel Bacchiochi wrote Women and Music in the Bible.” Why were women excluded from the music ministry of the Temple first, and of the synagogue and early Assembly later? There are numerous biblical references to women singing and playing instruments in the social life of ancient Israel (Ex 15:20-21; 1 Sam 18:6-7; Jude 11:34; Ezra 2:64-65; NehemiYah 7:66-67), but there are no references in the Bible to women participating in the worship music of Elohim’s House.”

Women as Torah Teachers? by TNT
...women allowed to prophesy if so gifted to do so; Devorah Judges 4:5-9; Huldah, II Kings 22:11-20; Luke 1:40 Elishabeth with Loud Voice;  Anna, Luke 2:36-38; “Your sons and daughters will prophesy, Joel 2:28; Acts 2:17,18; Laborers: Phillipians 2:3-4; Daughters; Acts 21:8,9. “..the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.”

Moving forward now to the kings, the Scriptures state specifically that settling matters of Torah was one of the king’s responsibilities; and once again, it is the men who were ordained to rule Israel as Kings, and who were required to make and keep a copy of Torah for themselves;
D’varim (Deuteronomy) 17:18-20.
However, not a single woman was appointed by Yah to rule over Israel as Queen in place of a King, or even as co-regent with a King; and not a single woman commanded to make and keep a copy of the Torah for herself.” From Torah and Testimony Revealed by HezekiYah.
We cannot ignore the great accomplishments of some women leaders. Margaret Thatcher, Govenor Dixie Lee Ray, Dr. Laura Schlesinger, Victoria Taft Laura Ingram, Janet Parshal talk show hosts. Ministries to families; hundreds of women singers and groups.
There is also long list of women in history who influenced or did evil things. Sort of like the “Queen of Hearts” in Alice in Wonderland. Think of contemporary women of equal avarice, intent and deeds. “Off with their heads!” Reminds us of several high-ranking leaders.
The downfall of the Messianic movement in Oregon is attributable in a large part to the same unqualified leaders, their inner-circles, people of influence and the rich. Compromising men who will not stand-up to their over-domineering wives are like jellyfish, men with no backbones.
All right! Enough of enumerating our less than virtuous leaders!

Dr. Samuel Bacchiochi in “Biblical Principles of Church Music” says,”.. Prior to this time the references to music are primarily in conjunction with women singing and dancing to celebrate special events. Miriam led a group of women in singing and dancing to celebrate the overthrow of the Egyptians (Ex 15:1-21). Women played and danced for the conquering David (1 Sam 18:6-7). Jephthat’s daughter met her father with timbrels and dance upon his return from battle (Judges 11:34). (None of these were in the Temple.)

With the establishment by David of a professional music ministry of Levites, music making was restricted to men. Why women were excluded from serving as musicians in the Temple, is an important question that has baffled scholars..”
"It is interesting to note," writes Garen Wolf, "that I have not been able to find a single direct reference to women playing the nebel [the harp] or the kinnor [the lyre]–the instruments played by men in the music worship of the temple. There can be little doubt that their music was mostly of a different species than that of the male Levite musicians who performed in the Temple. P. 144

Women Spiritual Leaders:

Women Pastors?
Women are indeed called to support their spouse and even women and children in the congregation.
There is no example in Torah for women as Torah teachers or Pastors. Using Paul's letters as a basis for women- pastors is marginal private interpretation. There is no example of this, nor of the military judge Deborah’s being a religious teacher of doctrine.
Deborah was a prophetess:
Judges 4:4 And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time. 4:9 And she said, I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour;
for YaHVaH shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh.
And Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh; and he went up with ten thousand men at his feet: and Deborah went up with him...
4:19 And Deborah said unto Barak, Up; for this is the day in which YaHVaH hath delivered Sisera into thine hand: is not the Master gone out before thee?

Men, you will have to learn leadership and how not lord over people. Many women are smarter than you and have more ideas, drive, vision, and are goal orientated. Learn from them if you cannot find a proper male role model. Look far.

“The role of Women in the Local Church”. Listing of mainline and non-mainline Churches allowing women pastors and teachers such as Assemblies of Elohim. Includes a brief historical look, roles, and prohibitions, adorning with good works, arguments illustrated, many notes and conclusion. From FEA.org and Foundation Magazine.

Includes a brief historical view of women in church, roles, prohibitions, arguments, conclusions and notes.
FEA does have many great old-time distinctive articles dealing especially with the doctrine of separation from the corrupt Ecumenicists.

Now we'll repeat, if you're just joining us, these materials are mainly for the True Believers in YaHVaH.

Exodus/Shemoth 12:49 "One law shall be to him that is home born and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you." Also in Lev/Vy 24:32 and Numbers/Bemidbar 9:14 and 15:16. We need to be saved and spirit filled.

Both Pastor Joey and HezekiYah lean far too heavily on the only apparent command for women to remain silent (1 Corinthians 14) but their scholarship and dedication to Scripture is hardly exceeded by many.

Penny and I were married in the Seventies and later were saved.  She was a wonderful wife and student of the Scriptures.  Penny labored with pro-life organizations for the unborn, as church secretary, singer and loved YaHVaH and His Shabbat. She died early in life.  We enjoy her past achievements.
